Performance Rec

Children 6–12 years oldBeginner1 hour/week

This program is designed for athletes to take the skills they have been building and put them together into a complete cheer routine. Athletes develop their jumps, stunts, shapes, cartwheels, handstands and rolls while learning the choreography, counts, formations and transitions that turn individual skills into a performance.

With one practice a week, Performance Rec builds confidence, friendships and team spirit as athletes work towards a routine they get to perform for friends and family. There are no tryouts, no competitions and no travel, just the excitement of learning something together and getting to show it off.

Performance Rec is perfect for children who…

They’re always putting on a show for us at home.

Some kids just love having an audience! Performance Rec gives them a place to channel that big personality and experience the excitement of learning a routine with their team. Throughout the session, athletes build their cheer skills, learn choreography and formations, and put everything together for a special performance in front of friends and family.

The CheerCore Pathway

Science-Backed Progression That Grows With Your Child.

No two athletes follow the same path. That’s why every CheerCore program is designed to grow with your child, supporting their unique development, interests, and goals. Every athlete is challenged. Every athlete belongs.

Your Questions, Answered

Does my child need cheer experience to join?
Performance Rec is beginner-friendly, and no previous cheer experience is required. Depending on your child’s age and experience, FUNdamentals may be a better fit for athletes who are brand new to cheer. Performance Rec introduces foundational cheer skills, including jumps, stunts, shapes, rolls, cartwheels and handstands, while teaching athletes how those skills come together as part of a routine.
What makes Performance Rec different from FUNdamentals?
FUNdamentals focuses on introducing and developing individual cheer skills through a balance of structure and play. Performance Rec takes the next step by introducing choreography, counts, formations and routine building. Instead of only learning the skills, athletes get to put them together and work towards a performance for friends and family.
Is Performance Rec the same as competitive cheer?
No. Performance Rec gives athletes the excitement of learning and performing a cheer routine while remaining completely recreational. There are no tryouts, competitions, judges, scores or travel. Competitive cheer is a separate program designed for athletes and families who want the commitment and experience of being part of a competitive team.
What if my child is shy or nervous about performing?
That’s completely okay! Athletes aren’t expected to walk through the door ready to perform in front of an audience. Confidence is something we build throughout the session. The final showcase is a team performance in a supportive environment, so athletes get to experience performing alongside their teammates rather than being put on the spot individually.
What will my child actually learn?
Athletes develop foundational cheer skills including stunts, jumps, shapes, cartwheels, handstands and rolls while also learning choreography, counts, formations and transitions. As the session progresses, those individual pieces come together into a complete cheer routine they can perform as a team.
Is there a performance at the end?
Yes! The performance is what makes Performance Rec special. Throughout the session, athletes work towards learning and mastering a complete routine that they’ll have the opportunity to perform for friends and family. It gives kids something exciting to work towards and parents the chance to see and celebrate their progress.
What kind of commitment is required?
Performance Rec is designed for families looking for a structured weekly team experience without the commitment required by competitive cheer. Because athletes are learning a routine together, consistent attendance is important so the entire group can learn formations, choreography and transitions successfully. Check the registration portal for the current class duration and schedule.
What happens after Performance Rec?
That depends entirely on your athlete! They can continue developing through recreational cheer, return for another session, or explore other programs within the CheerCore pathway as their interests and skills grow. Performance Rec is a complete program on its own, so participating doesn’t commit your family to competitive cheer or require you to take a particular next step.
