About
Mental performance training
Staying confident under pressure, bouncing back from a mistake, communicating with teammates and performing when it matters most: these are skills, and like every other skill at CheerCore Jags, they can be taught and trained.
That’s why our athletes now train with a mental performance coach. It’s a part of athlete development most youth sports programs leave to chance, and one we believe belongs in the gym alongside strength, flexibility and technique.
What athletes work on
- Building confidence, and keeping it when the pressure is on
- Bouncing back quickly after a mistake, in practice and at competition
- Performing consistently, not just on a good day
- Communicating clearly with teammates and coaches
Meet Coach Bella
Isabella Renaud, Coach Bella to our athletes, is completing her mental performance coaching internship with CheerCore Jags this season.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of Toronto and is pursuing her Master’s in Human Kinetics with a specialization in Mental Performance Consulting at the University of Ottawa, where she is working toward her CMPC certification. A competitive dancer and professional performer herself, she has worked with cheer athletes and is carrying that into a full season with the Jags.
I’m passionate about helping athletes build confidence, strengthen communication, and develop mental skills to bounce back quickly from mistakes, perform more consistently under pressure, and improve communication with teammates. I’m looking forward to supporting athletes both on and off the mat this season.Book a session with Bella (opens in a new tab)
